Car Rental Terms & Conditions


Age

The minimum age for renting an A and B class car is 21 years. The maximum rental age is 79 years. If you do not meet these criteria when you pick up the vehicle, the booking will be cancelled and you will have to pay the full amount.

Driving License

Drivers must have a valid driver’s license, valid for at least one (1) year. National driving licences issued in the EU, Greece, USA, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Israel, Russia, Ukraine and Switzerland are accepted. All other countries require an international driving licence.

Traffic Code Infringements – Fines – Administrative Cancellations

Violation of the Traffic Code, fines, tickets and administrative penalties resulting from the violation of the Greek traffic laws during the period of car rental are the sole responsibility of the renter. If the administrative sanction is not disclosed to the company by the end of the rental period (contract), the violation is charged to the renter.

Mileage

Unlimited mileage is included in the final rental price.

Taxes/Vat

The final rental price includes VAT (24%).

Additional Drivers

The registration of one (1) additional driver is free of charge. A total of three (3) drivers may be registered, together with the main driver. The additional cost per day, per driver, is 3 €.

Free Roadside Assistance

Roadside assistance is provided free of charge by RENTOPS 24/7. RENTOPS Partner is for Roadside Assistance – Assistance, with a contact number 2130904363, for calls from international mobile phones. In case you need roadside assistance, please contact RENTOPS directly and immediately.

Car Replacement

In case of an accident/damage that results in the immobilization of the vehicle, your car will be replaced with another one within 24 hours from the moment the accident/damage is reported.

Rentops reserves the right to investigate the causes of the accident/damage and to refuse to replace the car if its use was not in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.

Baby – Child Seats

RENTOPS offers you a free seat for the period of car rental. Each additional seat is charged at the rate of 2 €. The offered seat types are baby seat, child seat, booster seat.

Zero Charge In Case Of Flight Delay

RENTOPS does not charge you in case of a delayed flight. The staff constantly monitors any change in flight scheduling and will wait for you at the new arrival time.

Loss Of Keys

The loss of keys and the cost of replacing them is the sole responsibility of the tenant.

Damages In Tyres

Unrepairable tyres are not covered by insurance. If the tyre is repairable, the customer can pay for the repair and the company is obliged to reimburse any costs.

Cancelation Of Reservation

You can cancel your reservation once it has been confirmed. To cancel the reservation, enter the e-mail address and reservation number provided to you after completing the online booking.

Delivery – Receipt Of Vehicles

RENTOPS can pick up or deliver a vehicle at the locations specified in the booking form that you have selected. These locations are the Airport, the Port. For locations not included in the form, please contact us in advance. Delivery of vehicles from 22.00 – 07.00 is charged at the rate of 20 €, which is payable upon pick up. The return of the car outside working hours is free of charge.

Car Transport By Sea Or Across Borders

Moving the car by sea or across borders is expressly prohibited. In such a case, the insurance is cancelled and the renter is solely responsible for any damage caused to the car.

Oneway Car Rental

You can rent any car for a one-way trip, provided that the arrangement is made at the start of the rental and confirmed by the contract.

Car Rental Extension

If you wish to extend the car rental for a longer period of time, you can contact RENTOPS to check availability. RENTOPS reserves the right to refuse to extend the rental if there is no availability. If an extension is possible, you have a grace period of one (1) hour, during which the delay is not charged, provided that RENTOPS has been notified in good time and has given the necessary permission. The following three (3) hours will be charged at €10 per hour. A delay of more than 3 hours shall be charged at the rate of one (1) day’s cost. The client is not allowed to deliver the car later than the agreed return time without permission (having already extended the rental) from RENTOPS, as there is no insurance coverage after the return time of the car.

Case Of Accident

In the event of an accident, you must contact RENTOPS immediately via the 24/7 helpline. It is forbidden to leave the scene of the accident before reporting the accident. If you cannot contact our company, you must contact the police immediately. If you do not report the accident to RENTOPS, then you are obliged to pay for the repair of any damage caused to the rental car yourself. If an injury has been caused you must also call the police / ambulance. If the other car involved leaves the scene of the accident, take a photo or note the license plate number of the car. RENTOPS will immediately inform its insurance partner of the accident report.

Car Use-Usage

Each type of insurance cover and exemptions apply provided that the tenant has complied with all terms and conditions.

The hirer must check the vehicle at regular intervals and report, either to RENTOPS or to the police, any damage, without having moved the vehicle from its place, so that the hirer can provide any information requested in order to clarify the circumstances under which the damage or accident occurred and to draw up the necessary declaration.

If the renter fails to report the damage or accident within two (2) hours of the time it occurred, the renter is automatically liable and must cover the cost of repairing the damage. No claims will be accepted upon return of the car as it is extremely difficult to clarify the circumstances that caused the damage.

RENTOPS reserves the right to claim compensation from the renter equal to the cost of repairing the damage if the car is damaged in the following cases:

  • If the renter drives the vehicle on any prohibited road, unpaved road, dirt road or off-road, with or without intention (e.g., if the driver goes off-road for no reason).
  • If the tenant violates traffic rules (e.g., street signs/STOP, speed limits, direction of travel, U-turns, illegal passing with a double line violation).
  • If tenant goes off the road due to lack of care.
  • If tenant violates stop/parking rules.
  • If the renter drives the car in a speed race, competition or rally, or the vehicle is used for financial reward (taxi or courier service).
  • If the car is driven by any person who has been impounded or does not possess or has ever held a driving license appropriate for that vehicle or is not a registered driver on the contract.
  • If the driver of the car is driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug that affects his or her ability to drive.
  • If the car is damaged, intentionally or unintentionally, by the renter’s negligence (e.g. damage to the body or doors from strong wind, clutch damage, dents in the hood/trunk/roof of the vehicle, damage to the interior of the vehicle, damage from animals).
